We finally got out to the Whiteshell which is only about an hour and a half from Wpg. This huge park is part of the Boreal forest in the Canadian shield, on the eastern side of MB. During the winter months, the main road is plowed to let people into the resorts. People come in the summer months to camp. It reminds us of Algonquin.

Some of the ice on Barrier Bay is starting to melt with the rising currents. We almost stayed here at a resort one time but instead ended up going to Steinbach (a little closer and little cheaper). Officially it is spring in MB, but we have had more snow than usual, and there's still lots of it on the ground - mainly in the shade... But the sun is melting it!!!
